For some time, a quiet question had been lingering in all our minds: Who would take up the responsibility of organizing the Alumni Reunion of 2026?
It therefore came as a moment of genuine relief and happiness when Dr Dinakar Shetty willingly stepped forward to shoulder this responsibility. With dedication and patience, he began contacting classmates and coordinating arrangements. He was ably supported by Vinay Kumar Shetty, T Seetharama Shetty and other classmates whose involvement strengthened the effort and ensured wider participation.
One
of the most heartening outcomes of this year’s reunion was the increase in the
number of participants compared to the previous year. This growth gave all of
us a deep sense of satisfaction, reassurance, and hope that our alumni bond will continue to grow stronger over time.
A
Perfect Setting for Togetherness
For
the informal get-together, the organizers thoughtfully chose Matha Garden and
Resorts, a serene and green location that perfectly complemented the spirit of
the reunion. On 17 January, classmates
of Goliyangadi High School, Batch of 1976, gathered at Matha Gardens by 10:00
a.m., carrying with them decades of memories and anticipation.
At 10:30 a.m., the ice-breaking session began. Dr Dinakar Shetty warmly welcomed everyone and invited each member to introduce themselves. What followed was a delightful sequence of introductions filled with humor, warmth, spontaneity, and nostalgia. Laughter flowed easily, barriers dissolved quickly, and the years between us quietly disappeared. Click the following small video.
Beyond
the efforts of the organizers, many members lovingly brought sweets and
homemade dishes, adding a personal and festive touch to the gathering.
Surrounded by lush greenery, fresh air, and the soothing aroma of nature, we
found ourselves completely immersed in the peaceful and welcoming atmosphere of
Matha Gardens. In this calm setting, memories of our school days, childhood
innocence, and shared experiences resurfaced naturally and joyfully.

Stories,
Laughter, and Shared Lives
Many
members took turns narrating rare and lesser-known incidents from school
life—harmless pranks, forgotten classroom moments, songs, jokes, and
youthful mischief that only classmates could truly understand. There were
touching recollections of teachers who cared deeply for their students,
whose guidance and concern left lasting impressions.
Conversations naturally extended to family developments, professional journeys, and the achievements of children, along with invitations to upcoming family functions. These exchanges reminded us that while life has taken us in different directions, our roots remain firmly connected. Click below for video:
Games
were played, photographs were clicked endlessly, and moments were captured not
just on camera, but in memory.
A
Gentle Ending, A Lasting Impact
The reunion formally concluded at 5:00 p.m., though the warmth of the day lingered much longer. Some members chose to stay overnight, continuing conversations late into the evening, reluctant to let the day come to an end. The program concluded with prayers for health and prosperity, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Hemalatha and the felicitation of the organizer, Dr. Dinakar Shetty, with a shawl.Click the following video:
More
than just a gathering, the Goliyangadi High School Alumni Reunion 1976
was a reaffirmation of friendship, gratitude, and continuity. It reminded us
that time may change our lives, but it cannot erase the bonds formed in our
formative years.
