Goliyangadi High School Alumni Reunion 2026 – A Day of Memories and Meaning

For some time, a quiet question had been lingering in all our minds: Who would take up the responsibility of organizing the Alumni Reunion of 2026?

It therefore came as a moment of genuine relief and happiness when Dr Dinakar Shetty willingly stepped forward to shoulder this responsibility. With dedication and patience, he began contacting classmates and coordinating arrangements. He was ably supported by Vinay Kumar Shetty, T Seetharama Shetty and other classmates whose involvement strengthened the effort and ensured wider participation.

One of the most heartening outcomes of this year’s reunion was the increase in the number of participants compared to the previous year. This growth gave all of us a deep sense of satisfaction, reassurance, and hope that our alumni bond will continue to grow stronger over time.

A Perfect Setting for Togetherness

For the informal get-together, the organizers thoughtfully chose Matha Garden and Resorts, a serene and green location that perfectly complemented the spirit of the reunion.  On 17 January, classmates of Goliyangadi High School, Batch of 1976, gathered at Matha Gardens by 10:00 a.m., carrying with them decades of memories and anticipation.

At 10:30 a.m., the ice-breaking session began. Dr Dinakar Shetty warmly welcomed everyone and invited each member to introduce themselves. What followed was a delightful sequence of introductions filled with humor, warmth, spontaneity, and nostalgia. Laughter flowed easily, barriers dissolved quickly, and the years between us quietly disappeared. Click the following small video.

Beyond the efforts of the organizers, many members lovingly brought sweets and homemade dishes, adding a personal and festive touch to the gathering. Surrounded by lush greenery, fresh air, and the soothing aroma of nature, we found ourselves completely immersed in the peaceful and welcoming atmosphere of Matha Gardens. In this calm setting, memories of our school days, childhood innocence, and shared experiences resurfaced naturally and joyfully.

Faces That Made the Day Complete

In the photographs, seated from left were:

Vinaya Prabha (wife of Umashankar), Shyamala (wife of Udaya), Sumathi, Hemalatha, Shreemathi Y, Suchitha (wife of Narasimha), Ratnavathi, Jayalakshmi, Manjula (wife of Srinivas), Kshama (wife of Usman),

Standing from left - T. Seetharama Shetty, Sadashiva Rai (husband of Jaya), Jaganatha, Raghavendra Alse, Ganesh Vakuda (husband of Sumathi), Vinaya Kumar Shetty, Udaya Kumar Bhat, and Nagaraj Nakkathaya, A. Seetharama Shetty, Dinakar Shetty, Y. Prabhakar Shetty, Srinivas Sathputhekar, Subhachandra Tolar, Narasimha Shetty, Usman Hykadi, Sudarshan Shetty and Sureshramana Mayya, (husband of Shreemathi).

Each face carried its own story, yet together they formed a picture of enduring friendship and shared history.

Stories, Laughter, and Shared Lives

Many members took turns narrating rare and lesser-known incidents from school life—harmless pranks, forgotten classroom moments, songs, jokes, and youthful mischief that only classmates could truly understand. There were touching recollections of teachers who cared deeply for their students, whose guidance and concern left lasting impressions.

Conversations naturally extended to family developments, professional journeys, and the achievements of children, along with invitations to upcoming family functions. These exchanges reminded us that while life has taken us in different directions, our roots remain firmly connected. Click below for video:

Games were played, photographs were clicked endlessly, and moments were captured not just on camera, but in memory.

A Gentle Ending, A Lasting Impact

The reunion formally concluded at 5:00 p.m., though the warmth of the day lingered much longer. Some members chose to stay overnight, continuing conversations late into the evening, reluctant to let the day come to an end. The program concluded with prayers for health and prosperity, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Hemalatha and the felicitation of the organizer, Dr. Dinakar Shetty, with a shawl.Click the following video:

More than just a gathering, the Goliyangadi High School Alumni Reunion 1976 was a reaffirmation of friendship, gratitude, and continuity. It reminded us that time may change our lives, but it cannot erase the bonds formed in our formative years.

A Journey Back to My Roots: Diamond Jubilee of My School

Some places remain etched in our hearts forever. No matter how many years pass, a single visit can awaken memories, emotions, and gratitude that words can barely contain. One such place in my life is the school where I studied and completed my 8th to 10th Standard — a place that shaped my values, learning, and outlook towards life.

Recently, I had the privilege of revisiting my school during its Diamond Jubilee Celebration, marking 75 glorious years of its journey in education. This visit was not just an event; it was a homecoming.

I attended the celebration along with my husband, Dr. Sureshramana Mayya, and my brother, Mr. Gopikrishna Bhat. What made the occasion even more special was that my brother, like me, had also studied in the same school. For both of us, walking through the campus was like walking through chapters of our childhood once again.

This school holds an even deeper personal significance. It was situated in the adjacent compound of our house at Goliyangadi, making it a constant presence during my growing years. The sound of the school bell, the laughter of students, and the rhythm of school life blended seamlessly with our home.

Most importantly, the school stands as a living legacy of my late father, Sri Ananthapadmnabha Bhat, who constructed the initial school building. That very structure still stands today — strong, dignified, and timeless — as an everlasting monument of his commitment to education and service to society.

Participating in the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, witnessing cultural programmes, meeting familiar faces, and seeing how the school has grown over the decades filled my heart with pride and humility. The beautifully decorated pathways, the joyful atmosphere, and the collective memories of generations of students made the celebration truly unforgettable.

This visit reminded me that schools are not just institutions — they are living spaces of learning, values, relationships, and legacy. I left the campus with a heart full of gratitude: for my teachers, for my family, for the school, and for the foundation it provided in shaping my life.

This blog post is my humble tribute to my school, to my parents, to my teachers, and to every student who walked those corridors before me and after me. Some bonds never fade — they only grow stronger with time.

In the same spirit, we, the alumni of Goliangadi High School (1973-1976), gathered on January 11, 2025, at Ikkodlu Resort near Hebri for a heartwarming reunion. The event saw the participation of several former classmates and their families. Among them were T. Seetharama Shetty with his wife Amita; Vinay Kumar Shetty; A. Seetharama Shetty; Usman H; Raghavendra Alse; Jagannath Shetty; Subhashchandra Tholar; N. Balakrishna Shetty; Sudarshan Shetty; and Nagaraj Nakkatthaya. Y. Shreemathi attended with her husband Sureshramana Mayya; Hemalatha; Jayalakshmi with her husband Sadashiva Rai; and Sumathi with her husband Ganesh Vakuda. Rathnavathi came with her daughter Sandhya Rani and son-in-law Rakesh.

This memorable event was organized by Y. Shreemathi, with all classmates' active support and collaboration. It turned into a day of laughter, bonding, and nostalgia.
